6 Everyday Skincare Mistakes

Most of us have been washing our faces, for either a short or long time, and most of us think we have it all figured out.  But I bet you are making at least one of the most common mistakes listed below.

Toxic Ingredients:
There are a lot of ingredients in beauty products, that are not regulated, and we are finally learning just how detrimental they are to our health.  Do you read the labels on any of your products?  Do they contain ingredients like parabens, or silicones?  What about fillers?  You know that old saying, "you get what you pay for"?  Well when talking about beauty products that saying has never been more true! A great resource for rating the ingredients in your beauty products is EWG.org.  This website allows you to research the ingredients and get a rating on how toxic they are, and it also educates you on what all those complicated words are in your products.

Dirty Makeup Brushes:
Your makeup brushes should be washed weekly with a mild sulfate-free cleaner. Your face will love you, and clean brushes will reduce breakouts due to bacteria, dirt, and other contaminates.  NOTE: wet brushes should be laid flat to dry, which will prolong the life of your makeup brushes.

What is your true skin type?
Make sure you are using products for your true skin type.  Is you skin oily, dry, combination? What about acne prone, sensitive or dehydrated?  Know your skin...so you can use the correct products.

Daily Routine:
Are you trying new products from a new product line?  I am a true believer that you should use products from the same line, as they were created to work together. When using new products, allow a month of use to begin to notice changes. Remember you didn't develop those wrinkles in a month, sometimes it takes a bit of time to see the benefits.  If there are products in the set that don't work for you, stop using them for a bit and try them again after a week to see if your skin reacts differently.

Think Warm Water:
Most people think hot water is the best temperature to wash your face.  Hot water is very drying to the skin.  Take a break from washing your face in the hot shower, and use warm/cool water and see if your skin doesn't look and feel better.

Diet and Exercise:
Last, but not least for beautiful healthy skin is diet and exercise.  Getting a good sweat on, eating healthy whole foods, and drinking a gallon of water a day will make good skin look incredible.   Also don't forget about getting a good night's sleep will also help you look, and feel your best!

There are a lot of aspects to great skin.   Start today implementing a couple of the healthy tips above, and add one every 30 days.  It only takes 30 days to make a new habit, and these habits will help you look and feel your best!  Put your best face forward, which will help you feel more confident in yourself!  Go get'em girl!

Is Our Food Nutritionally Bankrupt?

Is our food nutritionally bankrupt?  In a word...YES!

Most people know that farming uses herbicides and pesticides to eliminate bugs that may attack crops in the field.  But did you know that due to the heavy use of those chemicals in factory farming, the top soil has been sterilized, and many naturally occurring minerals have been neutralized.  So if the soil is depleted of minerals, those minerals are then absent in the food grown in that soil.

What are the repercussions of consuming food grown in mineral depleted soils?  Did you know that the soil requires 52 minerals?  And do you know how many of those required minerals are added to the soil during the planting season?  THREE...yes that is 3 minerals out of 52 that the soil requires.  Is it any wonder that so many people are in poor health? We are not getting anything close to what our body requires for optimal health.

What is the solution?  Of course the best solution would be to grow your own vegetables, which would allow you to grow organic and eliminate the chemical, as well as being able to supplement the soil.  Another solution is to reduce the amount of processed food, and fast food you consume.  The next best thing would be to add IsaFruits and IsaGreens to your daily diet.  IsaFruits and IsaGreens are revolutionary superfoods that contain the healthiest fruits and green on the planet, that are cold-pressed to boost your body's natural ability to defend against toxins.

4 Benefits of Whey Protein for Weight Loss

Whey Protein.  Most people know that it is an ingredient in protein shakes, but they aren't sure why it is important to add to their daily diet.  Whey protein is the by product of milk, after it coagulates and separates into whey, which makes up 20% of the protein in milk,  and casein. The liquid whey is separated from the casein, and separated from all non-whey elements and then purified by ion exchange.  The water is then removed using a drying tower, and the why protein is then ready to be packaged for consumption.

Here are 4 reasons why you should include whey protein in your daily diet.

Weight Loss:   In one study at the University of Oklahoma, 2 groups of participants were told to not change their diet, however one group was supplied a supplement containing whey (300 calories, 40 grams of protein) once per day for 2 weeks, and then twice per day for the remaining 8 weeks.  Both groups participated in supervised resistance, and endurance training. The findings were that although both groups decreased fat mass, the group that included the whey protein showed a more significant fat loss (-9.3% vs -4.6%).  The group with the added whey protein also showed significant gains in muscle mass, as well as a decrease in total LDL and total cholesterol.

Lower Cholesterol: The British Journal of Nutrition published a study that showed a significant decrease in total cholesterol, and LDL cholesterol in week 12 of the study, when compared to the casein group.

Asthma:  A study published by the International Journal of Food Science and Nutrition found that children with asthma had improved cykokine response when supplemented with whey for one month.

Heart Health: The International Dairy Journal showed that blood pressure was reduced with patients with hypertension, when beverages were supplemented with whey protein.  This resulted in their risk of stroke and heart disease being lowered.

Now imagine a Whey Protein that provides optimal support for nutritional cleansing and replenishing, weight loss, and weight loss maintenance, as well as peak performance. While low in saturated fat, sodium and cholesterol, this shake provides the right balance of protein, carbohydrates, healthy poly- and mono-unsaturated fats, dietary fiber, vitamins and minerals (including calcium, vitamin C, vitamin B-12, and vitamin D).  Plus, you get active digestive enzymes that help maximize absorption of key nutrients.  Many products touted as 'meal replacements' don't deliver adequate nutrition to do the job of replacing a meal.
Click here to learn more of this meal replacement, that actually saves you money on  your grocery bill, as each meal works out to be $3.71 retail, or $2.85 wholesale.  CLICK here to learn more about the best way to add an additional 18 grams of protein to your daily routine. Extra protein is a great way to help your body recover after your workout.

NOTE: consuming high doses of whey may produce the following side effects:  stomach pain, cramps, reduced appetite, nausea, headaches, and fatigue.

Fiber Up! 9 Reasons Why It Is Vital For Your Health

There are plenty of research findings that show how fiber may have health boosting properties.

Here are 9 reasons to include fiber in your daily diet.

1.  Help control blood sugar.  Including soluble fiber may slow the breakdown of carbohydrates, as well as the absorption of sugar in your body.  This may help control blood sugar.

2.  Weight Loss.  Fiber helps you feel fuller longer, which may help with weight loss and weight management.

3.  Heart Health.  Research shows that people eating a high-fiber diet reduce their risk of heart disease by 40 percent.

4.  Stroke Risk.  Research shows that for every 7 grams of fiber you consume, your risk of stroke is reduced by 7 percent.

5.  Skin Health.  Fiber, especially psyllium husk, helps your body eliminate yeast and fungus.  Helping your body eliminate through the intestinal tract, instead of the skin, may help prevent breakouts.

6.  Hemorrhoids.  Fiber may help prevent hemorrhoids.

7.  IBS or Irritable Bowel Syndrome.  Adding fiber to your diet may help relieve some of the symptoms of IBS.

8.  Diverticulitis.   A diet high in fiber, especially insoluble fiber, may reduce your risk of diverticulitis by up to 40 percent.

9.  Gallstones and Kidney Stones.  A diet high in fiber, because it helps your body regulate blood sugar, may reduce the risk of gallstones and kidney stones.

The most complete fiber supplement, containing both soluble and insoluble fiber, is FiberPro, which contains five different plant fibers in a flavorless, easily dissoluble powder, as well as prebiotics to help restore the balance of healthy bacteria in your gut. One of my favorite way of incorporating more fiber into my day is with a fiber snack bar, which contain 6 grams of fiber and come in 2 flavors.

Diet Tip of the Day: Remember to Eat!

Most people know that to lose weight you have to burn more calories than you consume. But studies show that skipping out on snack time won’t necessarily lead to weight loss, since low calorie consumption can actually slow metabolism.  When you eat less than three times a day it may benefit those who are obese, but research shows skipping meals throughout the day and eating one large meal at night can lead to some undesirable outcomes, like delayed insulin response, which may increase your risk of diabetes. So instead of skipping breakfast or lunch, schedule a few meals a day with healthy snacks in between for weight loss.

My favorite snack between meals is a FiberSnack bar. The FiberSnack bar, with 6 grams of undenatured whey and milk protein and 24% of the RDA of fiber, will satisfy your hunger so you stay fuller longer.  Enjoy...they are delicious!
